Watford Football Club also proudly known as The Hornets has existed since the early days of organised football in England. Its beginnings have been traced back to 1881 when a group of teenagers staged kickabouts in Cassiobury Park. Today Watford FC has international exposure from being in the highest-profile league in the world, The Premier League.
Watford FC is committed to providing a safe and accessible experience for all disabled supporters. Following the completion of developments around the stadium to improve accessibility, Watford FC has switched its focus to supporting people with hidden disabilities. As part of this campaign, their digital landscape needed assessing to support people with disabilities, visual impairments, or people who speak English as a second language. To allow everyone to connect on a level playing field they wanted to provide accessibility tools to allow all fans to engage with the club.
To support all Watford FC fans around the world they have launched their new inclusive website with Recite Me assistive technology. This innovative accessibility software will help bring supporters closer to their club by allowing fans to read and engage with the latest Watford content barrier-free regardless of disability, age, or language.
The accessibility and language toolbar provides a number of features to give a visitor full control over the customisation of the website to suit their needs. These features include a screen reader, styling options, reading support, and a translation tool with over 100 languages, including 35 text-to-speech voices.
