Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals (BSUH) is an acute teaching hospital working across two main sites, Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath.

BSUH provides district general hospital services to people in and around Brighton and Hove, Mid Sussex, and the western part of East Sussex and more specialised and tertiary services for patients across Sussex and the southeast of England.

Our Brief

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals support the diverse population of their area with all health and care needs. To continue and evolve this great work they wanted to enable all their staff, patients, and visitors to access important health information on their website hassle-free.

Regardless of people’s disabilities, learning difficulties or if they speak English as a second language, Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals wanted to be able to support website visitors to access their content barrier-free.

To achieve this totally inclusive goal their website needs to provide people with accessibility and language support.

Our Solution

The Recite Me accessibility assistive toolbar was implemented on the Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals website, which has massively improved the way all staff, patients, and visitors can read important content online. To allow people to access contact information, appointment data and much more with easy Recite Me assistive technology allow people to customise websites according to their varying accessibility and language needs.

Recite Me accessibility software has a wide range of supporting features including a screen reader, styling options, reading support, and a translation tool with over 100 languages, including 35 text-to-speech voices.
