University of Liverpool

Established in 1881, the University of Liverpool is one of the UK’s six original ‘red brick’ civic universities. It has 22,000+ students on campus including 7,700+ international students, plus 10,000+ online students from over 160 countries.

It aims to support students as they become highly employable, creative, and culturally rich graduates, with the capacity to find employment that will enable them to be agents for change in a connected world.

Our Brief

The University of Liverpool delivers a comprehensive programme of support for staff and students with disabilities to make the university and its services accessible.

It has over 3000 registered students who have disclosed a disability, and it provides a range of software and hardware for students (and staff) to help them access the university and its services.

The university turned to Recite Me to help ensure its website is accessible to as many people as possible, including people with disabilities.

Our Solution

The Recite Me toolbar was introduced to the University of Liverpool’s website in 2017.

The Recite Me toolbar lets anyone view the website in a format that is fully accessible to them.

It lets people change elements such as the font size, plus the font colour and background colour contrast, as well as giving the option to have the text read out aloud.
