ISEP

As a global membership organisation, ISEP (the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals) knows that creating a more sustainable future starts with people. That means making sure everyone can access the tools, knowledge and support they need to undertake and lead on sustainability initiatives in their own organisations.

To support this, ISEP introduced the Recite Me Assistive Toolbar across its websites, helping to create a more accessible and inclusive digital experience for its diverse, international membership. The organisation wanted to better understand how members engage with its content, so it can continue to improve and evolve its digital platforms.

Our Brief

Accessibility and inclusion are a core focus for ISEP, and the organisation is always looking for ways to improve how it supports its members.

Insights from its latest member survey highlighted that almost 7% of members that completed the survey identify as  neurodivergent, reinforcing the need for a more inclusive online experience.

This sits within ISEP’s wider commitment to improving diversity across the sustainability profession, including its work through the Diverse Sustainability Initiative and its focus on advancing digital accessibility across its platforms.

With a global membership, ISEP wanted to make it easier for people to access and engage with its content in a way that works for them, while continuing to strengthen its digital experience for
the future.

Our Solution

ISEP introduced the Recite Me Assistive Toolbar across its website, giving members more control over how they experience content online. The Assistive Toolbar includes features such as screen reading, reading aids, customisable styling options, and translation tools. This allows users to personalise their experience and helps reduce common digital barriers.

For an organisation with a large and content-rich website, this has made it easier for members to navigate and engage with information. The ability to translate content into over one hundred languages is particularly valuable, supporting ISEP’s global audience and including those who may not speak English fluently.

Alongside improving accessibility, the Toolbar also provides useful insights. ISEP can see how members are using the features, including which languages are being selected, helping to guide future strategic decisions and improvements across its digital platforms.

“Recite Me offers a broad range of features that have allowed us to support our diverse global membership with accessing the content they need to carry out their important work more effectively. The reporting is a key bonus for us – we can see which languages our website is being translated to, which gives us an indication of how sustainability markets are progressing across the world. This will help us to identify key regions and audiences for whom to develop content and support, furthering our global reach.

We would recommend Recite Me to any organisation that wants to make their content as accessible as possible – especially those with international audiences.”
