London City Airport opened its doors in 1987 with the aim of giving passengers quick access to the financial district of the city. Charles, the Prince of Wales, laid the foundation stone of the terminal building, on the 2nd of May 1986, and in November 1987 Queen Elizabeth II officially opened London City Airport.

Our Brief

London City Airport is one of the UK’s fastest-growing airports, with expansion plans well underway to give them the capability of handling 8 million passengers per annum by 2030. To accommodate and support an increasingly diverse range of people and different nationalities, the airport needed to provide accessibility and live translation solutions on its website to help everyone access important travel information with ease.

Our Solution

To support people from all over the world and people with different disabilities, London City Airport implemented Recite Me assistive technology on their website to revolutionise the way passengers can read and understand content online. 

To improve website visitors’ time on site, Recite Me assistive technology allows travellers to customise the London City Airport website according to their varying accessibility and language needs.

The accessibility toolbar provides several features to give a user full control over the customisation of the website to suit their needs. These features include text-to-speech software, styling options, reading support, and a translation tool with over 100 languages, including 65 text-to-speech voices.
