The Grey Matter Group works with organisations across the health and social care sectors to improve lives through learning. It does this by supporting health and social providers with online learning and assessments. Its customers range from NHS trusts, to local authorities, to care homes, domiciliary care providers, learning disability providers and individual employers.

Our Brief

Accessibility has been a key consideration for The Grey Matter Group since it was founded in 2006. When The Grey Matter Group decided to update its processes in 2017 it conducted research with customers who had used the company’s website. It found that whilst its old accessibility tools were sufficient, it wanted to do more to increase the range of accessibility options to support people with dyslexia in particular.

Our Solution

We added the Recite Me toolbar to The Grey Matter Group’s website to offer a wider range of accessibility options to suit the needs of its clients. The Grey Matter Group’s clients can now use the Recite Me toolbar to change font type or font size, change the text colour and the background colour, and access a full dictionary, thesaurus, and translation tools, as well as reading text aloud. This unique combination of features makes Recite Me a great accessibility tool for people with disabilities like dyslexia, and helps The Grey Matter Group to deliver online learning and assessments to clients that don’t speak English as their first language, which is increasingly important due to the UK’s diverse population.

Client Testimonial

"Not only does Recite Me support our customers with dyslexia and other disabilities, by making our website more accessible, it’s also a crucial tool for our customers who don’t speak English as their first language. This is particularly useful as a high proportion of people working in the health and social care sectors have been recruited from abroad to work in the UK. So they don’t speak English as their first language, and they benefit greatly by using Recite Me on our website to translate content and learn in their own language. "
