South Manchester Credit Union is committed to embedding inclusion at every level of its organisation. In December 2024, they introduced the Recite Me Assistive Toolbar to help overcome language barriers faced by members who do not speak English as their first language.

Our Brief

In Manchester, more than 200 languages are spoken (Manchester Gov), with Urdu, Arabic, Polish, Panjabi, and Spanish among the most common. For many residents, reading and understanding content in a second language can be challenging. That’s why South Manchester Credit Union set out to offer a wide range of language, styling, and reading support tools, ensuring their online services are accessible and inclusive for all customers.

Our Solution

To elevate their commitment, South Manchester Credit Union implemented the Recite Me Assistive Toolbar to enable all website visitors to customise their online experience. 

Users can have content read aloud with the screen reader, adjust the website’s appearance using styling and customisation tools, enhance comprehension with built-in reading aids, and most importantly for them, translate online content into different languages.
