Cornwall Council has implemented the Recite Me toolbar on its website to provide an inclusive digital experience for residents of Cornwall.
Now, website visitors to the Cornwall Council website can customise information with the use of accessibility and language tools. Including text-to-speech functionality multiple reading aids, styling features and an on-demand live translation tool.
The addition of Recite Me’s assistive technology will ensure easier access to a wealth of services and information for all of Cornwall Council’s website visitors, and provide inclusive bridges to content that otherwise might not be available without them.
Cornwall Council’s Chief Operating Officer, Tracie Langley told us, “A key part of our strategy as a council is to provide great value for money and a consistently good service for our customers.
“We are committed to ensuring all customers can access information and services in a way that best meets their individual needs, and this tool means even more people will be able to do this.”
Embracing inclusivity on their online platform even caught the eyes of the BBC, releasing an article on this advancement – Accessibility Tool Added to Council Website.
Tracie continued, “Being able to offer an inclusive experience is essential to supporting over 20% of the population who may encounter barriers due to having a disability, learning difficulty, visual impairment or if they speak English as a second language.”
It’s great to see the toolbar live on the Cornwall Council website and you can see it in action by simply clicking the ‘Listen and Translate’ button in the top right-hand corner.
If you are interested in acquiring the toolbar for your own company, you can find out more about pricing and how it helps by booking a demo with our accessibility experts; they can guide you through the whole process!
