Over 40,000 pages have been read and understood using the Recite Me toolbar across construction company, Mace, websites.
Since taking on the Recite Me toolbar back in 2021, Mace has jumped from strength to strength on its journey of inclusivity.
As a global consultancy and construction firm, working across 5 continents with a turnover of around £2 billion, it was vital that Mace provide accessibility support across its internal, careers and main websites.
The Recite Me assistive toolbar on the Mace website removes online barriers for those with disabilities, visual impairments, learning difficulties and the elderly population.
This innovative accessibility toolbar allows website visitors to customise their digital experience, choosing from a selection of tools. This includes screen reading functionality, multiple reading aids, customisable styling options, and an on-demand live translation feature capable of interpreting over 100 languages, including text-to-speech.
Ian Steere, Digital Business Partner and Co-Chair of ‘Enabled’ the employee disability network at Mace commented,
“Recite Me stood out as a provider with a wide range of features aimed at making our website more accessible for people with disabilities, along with customisation options and a user-friendly interface.”
The action Mace has taken has been a huge success, in the last 12 months, across all Mace websites with the Recite Me toolbar implemented, over 7,000 people have utilised the toolbar on 42,000 pages on Mace websites. This could be to translate content, read text aloud or change the font to Recite Me’s dyslexia-friendly font, Lexend.
Ian continued, “Accessible digital information enables our colleagues to fulfil their responsibilities whilst minimising the additional task load of interacting with complex and wordy text. Very often tools designed with specific disabilities in mind have far-reaching benefits for everyone – improving readability for example.”
Currently, over 5,000 websites use the Recite Me toolbar, this includes the likes of Coca-Cola, Tesco, Sir Robert McAlpine and many more.
