The Recite Me Toolbar provides users with a range of personalisation options to support their browsing experience, including features such as text-to-speech, translation, visual customisation, and reading aids.
It does not change the underlying code or structure of a website, nor does it fix accessibility issues at their source. Therefore, it does not make a website inherently accessible or guarantee compliance with accessibility regulations.
The purpose of the Recite Me assistive Toolbar is to offer a more inclusive experience for a wider audience, particularly for users who may not have access to their own assistive technology.
We aim to ensure that the Toolbar is usable by everyone, regardless of age or disability.
The Toolbar is regularly tested against WCAG 2.2 and supports ADA requirements. Should any areas of improvement be identified, we prioritise them in our development roadmap to ensure we maintain a high standard of usability and accessibility.
Recite Me takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of our Toolbar:
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.
It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, AA, and AAA. The Toolbar is compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA as well as supporting ADA requirements.
Our Toolbar is designed to be as intuitive as possible, so that it can support our users.
This means that you can:
Our Toolbar is accessible via Keyboard and Screen Readers.
Our Development Team continually reviews our Toolbar for accessibility enhancements. In addition to this, all new feature updates are reviewed both prior to and post-release.
We are continually seeking to enhance the accessibility of our Toolbar, and welcome user feedback to support that.

Our Toolbar uses third-party API’s for some of our features.
Our tool can be used on websites or apps that include third-party content, custom styling, or other client-added code. We design and test our core features to be accessible, but things like custom CSS or third-party widgets can sometimes affect how they work. We recommend checking your setup to make sure everything is accessible for all users.
Recite Me is committed to making sure its Toolbar is always accessible, in line with the Accessibility Regulations.
This Toolbar is compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard.

We have a robust and thorough remediation and retesting process that is aligned with team sprints and that connects the Recite Me Accessibility Team, QA Team, and Product teams together across a centralised process.
Our accessibility journey is ongoing. We are committed to continuously improving the usability of our Toolbar and ensuring it supports as many users as possible.
Accessibility is considered at every stage of our process, including design, development, and testing, to help us identify and address issues early.
