Housing association Salix Homes thrives in the digital space with the help of Recite Me technology on its website.
Salix Homes is a social housing provider in Salford, Greater Manchester, which own and manage over 8,000 homes, a diverse mix of properties that includes tower blocks, large housing estates, and independent living schemes for the over 55s.
Salix Homes employs over 300 people in a wide range of roles from repair operatives, to caretakers and housing officers out in their communities, helping to deliver social and affordable homes and services.
In 2022, Salix Homes launched its new and improved website – www.salixhomes.co.uk – which aims to make it quicker and easier for customers to access services online or find useful details about their tenancy, and the landlord is utilising Recite Me technology so customers can benefit from online services with as few digital barriers as possible.
David Robinson, Digital Marketing Coordinator at Salix Homes, recently spoke about the addition. “Accessibility of our communications is a key priority for Salix Homes and Recite Me is proving to be a valuable tool to ensure our website and key information is easily available for our customers in a language or format which suits them.
“We’ve seen particularly good use of Recite Me’s translation tool. Digital versions of documents on our website can be translated quickly and easily by customers, saving time and resources from potential requests for printed versions in different languages.”
In the last 12 months, there have been over 6,000 clicks on the translation tool on the Salix Homes website, which included translations into, Polish, Amharic and Spanish.
As well as an on-demand translation tool (up to 100 languages), Recite Me’s assistive technology comes equipped with a screen reader, styling and customisation options and a set of reading aids, which includes the brand-new and recently released ‘page summariser’’ tool.
We want to say a massive thank you to Salix Homes for using Recite Me on their website and we can’t wait to see more customers benefiting from being digitally inclusive.
