Walsall College is one of the most successful colleges in the UK, with more than 14,000 students enrolling in vocational-technical qualifications, apprenticeships, and higher education programmes, each year. To support each student's needs, Walsall College wanted to provide students with online accessibility and language tools to customise their educational journey to access higher levels of study and jobs.

Our Brief

Government statistics reveal that 332,300 higher education students in the UK identified themselves as having a disability of some kind. As part of Walsall College’s commitment to being a further education provider that goes the extra mile to maintain communication and quality of service, they wanted to ensure all students had access to the resources needed to access educational materials with ease.

Our Solution

Walsall College installed Recite Me assistive technology to support those with disabilities, learning difficulties, visual impairments, and for those who speak English as a second language. In the past year, over 12,500 Walsall college website users received support to read and understand educational material online, enabling users to customise their web page in a way that works best for them. Features include, translating content into different languages, reading aloud, and styling assistance.
