Ed Place

EdPlace is an at-home learning and revision app that enhances educational resources and exam preparation. EdPlace provides online assessments, interactive activities, and English, Maths, Science, and 11 Plus practice papers that cover the whole curriculum (from Year 1 to GCSE).

EdPlace was founded by Will Paterson, who set up the revision tool because of his own experiences at school. As a dyslexic, Will faced a lot of challenges and set up EdPlace to ensure students can assess relevant resources that are delivered in an engaging format.

Our Brief

Will’s personal experiences meant he knew exactly how hard it can be to consume information, without the right assistance and this gave him the upper hand when wanting to create online revision resources that were accessible to all. Currently, there are 286,000 children in the UK who have a learning disability (Learning Disabilities) and this may require them to have additional support to revise for vital educational exams.

So to ensure all students could read and understand resources in a way that best suits their own needs, EdPlace partnered with Recite Me to implement assistive technology on their learning platform.

Our Solution

EdPlace has implemented Recite Me assistive technology to provide accessible resources to all students, regardless of disabilities, learning difficulties, and language barriers.

The Recite Me toolbar can help the students who use EdPlace to browse courses and revision material with tools such as text-to-speech software, reading aids, styling and customisation tools and a online translator with 65 text-to-speech voices.

Better yet, since the launch of the toolbar on the EdPlace website in May 2020, 51,000 EdPlace students have used the toolbar to read and understand over 1 million pages of content.
