Shelter Cymru is breaking down accessibility barriers with the use of Recite Me assistive tools to ensure everyone can access information and services regardless of disabilities, language, or abilities.

Having a home is everything, and Shelter Cymru already help thousands of people each year across Wales who are affected by housing emergencies, offering free, confidential and independent advice. The partnership between Recite Me and Shelter Cymru will build bridges between their online platform and 21% of Welsh individuals who have some form of disability.

It’s clear to see how much being inclusive means to the whole of the Shelter Cymru workforce.  David Roberts, Access and Inclusion Officer at Shelter Cymru, commented on the partnership with Recite Me, saying:

quote“We at Shelter Cymru are delighted to partner with Recite Me in order to make our website more inclusive and accessible for our service users. We believe that the toolbar and its vast array of features will instantly make our information significantly more accessible to those with protected characteristics and will help us to deliver support for individuals in need of vital housing advice.”

On Shelter Cymru’s website, users can have text read aloud, use a variety of reading aids and stylistic options, and convert content into over 100 languages— 65 of which can be read aloud.

We are so thrilled to have Shelter Cymru on board, you can check out the toolbar by selecting Audio/Visual Help at the top of the Shelter Cymru website.
