National Autistic Society

The National Autistic Society (NAS), the UK’s leading charity for autistic individuals and their families, took a transformative step in 2022 by integrating the Recite Me Assistive Toolbar into its website. This technology ensures autistic people and their families can access vital resources and information without barriers.

Our Brief

Autism, a lifelong developmental disability, affects how people communicate and interact with the world. In the UK, there are over 700,000 autistic adults and children, (National Autistic Society), who face unique challenges when navigating the online space. Recognising this, NAS set out to make its digital platform accessible and inclusive, sparking a search for tools to meet this need.

Our Solution

That is where NAS came across Recite Me, which NAS has relied on for the past three years to transform its website. Visitors can choose from a suite of customisable tools including reading aids, styling tools, and a translation feature. With this solution, NAS ensures that autistic people and their families can navigate their digital resources with ease, empowering them to access the information they need when they need it.

“Recite Me offered tools that could ensure our materials are available in multiple languages and other accessible formats, such as text-to-speech, without us having to spend vital charitable funds constantly translating materials as Recite Me does this for us.”
