Center for Watershed Protection

The Center for Watershed Protection (CWP) has spent more than three decades helping communities protect and restore clean water resources and healthy ecosystems. Through research, training, and educational resources, the organization works with practitioners, policymakers, and community leaders across the country to advance watershed protection.

Recognizing that access to information is only meaningful when everyone can use it, CWP partnered with Recite Me to create a more inclusive online experience.

Our Brief

Accessibility was a key consideration as CWP continued to expand its Online Watershed Library. Supported by federal grant funding, the organization wanted to ensure the website complied with relevant accessibility requirements while providing equitable access to its growing collection of resources.

Creating a more accessible website was also an extension of CWP’s commitment to inclusion, diversity, and equity. By ensuring that resources are available to people with a wide range of abilities, languages, and learning preferences, CWP can better serve its audiences.

Our Solution

To best support their community, CWP implemented the Recite Me Assistive Toolbar on the Online Watershed Library. Because Recite Me was already integrated with Tizra, the platform used to power the library, the implementation process was seamless and efficient.

The Recite Me Toolbar provides a range of accessibility and language support features, including text-to-speech functionality, customizable styling options, reading aids, and on-demand translation into multiple languages. These tools help visitors personalize their online experience and access information in the way that works best for them.

Recite Me was already a partner with Tizra which we use for our library so this made the toolbar addition more seamless. Having an inclusive website supports our vision of a future where all communities have access to clean water and healthy ecosystems, by removing barriers to access our resources and tools.
