As the first public liberal arts institution for African Americans in the U.S., North Carolina Central University (NCCU) is no stranger to inclusion and introduced Recite Me technology on its website to create an even more inclusive education experience for all students regardless of disabilities, language, or abilities.
Located in Durham, North Carolina, NCCU is a top-ranking southern regional university and historically black university with a diverse study body of more than 8,000 scholars that offers Bachelor’s Degrees in 100 disciplines, Master’s Degrees in more than 40 areas, and a Ph.D. in Integrated Biosciences.
With a diverse student body, including international students and those with diverse learning styles, NCCU was looking for a tool that could expand reach, offer support to students who speak English as a second language, and ensure equal access to educational resources, courses, and materials.
The partnership with Recite Me reflects NCCU’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that all students, regardless of their abilities, have equal access to their online resources and information.
Dekendrick Murray, Executive Director for Student Access & Success at North Carolina Central University commented,
“We are excited to have Recite Me as a partner with North Carolina Central University’s Office of Student Accessibility Services. The team has been a joy to work with and has worked closely with our staff to further provide access to our current community, as well as prospective students and families.”
Current and future students at North Carolina Central University will be able to take advantage of a wide range of Recite Me’s customizable features, such as screen reading functionality, multiple reading aids, styling options, and an on-demand live translation tool.
We are thrilled to have North Carolina Central University on board and you can try out the toolbar by clicking on the blue Accessibility icon button on the bottom right side of the NCCU website.
