In a joint effort to promote digital inclusion and meet growing accessibility needs, Clinton-Macomb Public Library (CMPL) selected Recite Me and Revize to make its website more accessible to all users.

This collaboration brings together CMPL’s commitment to serving its diverse community, Recite Me’s technology, and Revize’s web development expertise. The result is a seamless integration of accessibility tools that empower every visitor, regardless of ability, language preference, or assistive need, to engage with the library’s resources with ease.

Building a More Inclusive Website

In May 2025, CMPL began its work with Recite Me and Revize to integrate tools into its website. Together, this partnership combines CMPL’s focus on its community, Recite Me’s inclusive technology, and Revize’s web development expertise.

We caught up with Jamie Morris, Head of Community and Strategy at Macomb Public Library, who shared, “Our commitment to accessibility is paramount, and the solutions offered by Recite Me and Revize have made this seamless to incorporate accessibility into our website.”

The information gathered from the reports of Recite Me points Revize to the specific problem. This has allowed any issues that come up to be addressed quickly and efficiently.”

Accessibility Features for All

Through the Recite Me Toolbar, CMPL’s website now offers features such as:

  • Text-to-speech functionality
  • Customizable font, size, and color settings
  • Screen masking and reading aids
  • On-demand translation into over 100 languages

These tools remove barriers for individuals with vision impairments, learning difficulties, or language needs, helping ensure equal access for all library patrons.

How Recite Me Transformed CMPL’s Accessibility Strategy

Macomb Public Library began using the Recite Me Accessibility Checker in 2025 to ensure every website visitor could experience a barrier-free digital journey when accessing vital information across their domains.

What made the Recite Me Checker stand out was its balance of ease-of-use and depth of insight. After entering a domain, teams are provided with a comprehensive breakdown of issues, including:

  • A clear explanation of each problem
  • A screenshot of the issue on the front-end
  • A relevant code snippet
  • Step-by-step guidance on how to resolve it

This shift made the process of reaching WCAG 2.2 AA compliance across their sites significantly more efficient and repeatable.

Building on Recite Me Insights with Revize Expertise

Revize, a longtime leader in building user-friendly and award-winning municipal websites, has played a key role in configuring and maintaining the accessibility of the library’s site using data directly from the Recite Me Accessibility Checker.

Upon launch, all Revize websites are guaranteed to meet WCAG 2.2, Level AA standards, signifying the provider’s commitment to online accessibility. Revize prioritizes ADA compliance equally after the site goes live, reflected in the Scan & Fix Service offered to all clients. The digital ADA remediation service is designed to help government staff create inclusive communities and protect their organizations as key deadlines approach.

“Ensuring ADA compliance on library websites means opening the door of knowledge to everyone, regardless of ability. Accessibility is equity.”

Making a Lasting Impact

With the 2026 DOJ deadline for Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) approaching, CMPL’s proactive approach demonstrates the importance of addressing accessibility early. Their efforts highlight how libraries can make meaningful progress toward equity and inclusion online.
