This recognition highlights the Town’s leadership in bridging the digital divide and providing residents with access to essential digital resources.
Who is the National Digital Inclusion Alliance and what is the Digital Inclusion Trailblazers Award?
The National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) advances digital equity by supporting community programs and equipping policymakers to act. The NDIA believes that everyone should have the opportunity to use technology to live, learn, work, and thrive.
The Digital Inclusion Trailblazers are municipal, country, or regional governments that are paving the way and providing excellent models for digitally inclusive communities. The Trailblazers recognition isn’t just an award – it also serves as a collection of valuable resources. The designated Trailblazers provide models to aspire to, demonstrating how local governments can support their digital inclusion ecosystems.

Angela Siefer, Executive Director at the National Digital Inclusion Alliance shared that that NDIA’s Digital Inclusion Trailblazers celebrate these critical efforts to bring digital opportunities to all residents.
Recite Me Client, the Town of Randolph, Wins 2024 Digital Inclusion Trailblazer Award
NDIA awarded this distinction to 60 municipal, county, and regional governments across the United States, highlighting their efforts to create digitally connected communities.
Randolph achieved this recognition for a second year through several key programs:
- Library Digital Education Programs: In collaboration with Mattapan Tech, the Turner Free Library offers beginner-level computer classes, while the outreach librarian provides “Device Advice” sessions at various town locations, including the senior center, ensuring residents have hands-on support and access to digital resources.
- MBI Grant-Funded “Train the Trainer” Initiative: Utilizing an MBI grant, the library partners with Mattapan Tech and Randolph Community Partnership to provide computer training for ESOL learners.
- Accessible Civic Engagement: The town prioritizes making civic websites and information accessible online by maintaining transparent, user-friendly websites with Recite Me technology and engaging residents through social media, ensuring all community members can stay informed and connected.

Elizabeth LaRosee, Director of Community Programs shared that, “this Recite Me Toolbar service was actually discovered through our teen internship program—our interns saw it on another website and suggested it to us, highlighting the importance of engaging young people in our digital inclusion efforts.“
Website visitors can personalize their online experience with features such as text-to-speech, adjustable color contrast, and translation into multiple languages, making it easier for everyone to access Randolph’s resources.
“We chose to implement Recite Me on our town websites because it uniquely combines language translation and accessibility tools, making our digital resources more inclusive for our diverse community.”
