March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (DDAM) and this year’s theme, A World of Opportunities, is about celebrating people and working together to remove obstacles.

We’re grateful to be partners with developmental disability boards, councils, and advocacy organizations across the country that work hard to build a community that’s committed to creating a world where everyone can do well and succeed.

Today, we’re proud to announce the launch of our Recite Me Assistive toolbar on the Marion County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD) website!

Since 1967, the Marion County Board of Developmental Disabilities has provided advocacy and resources for residents of Marion County, Ohio with developmental disabilities. To fulfill their mission to help Marion County residents live, learn, and earn without barriers, MCBDD provides resources and support including early childhood services, supported living/residential services, family support, job training, employment services, Special Olympics, and more.

In 2020 alone, MCBDD linked those served with over 815,000 connections to resources and support. To ensure their services were easily accessible and available to everyone in the community, MCBDD sought to create an online environment that fosters inclusivity and accessibility.

Nicole Workman, Director of Communications at the Marion County Board of Developmental Disabilities commented:

“The work that Recite Me does to create website accessibility provides peace of mind for the Marion County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Not only does it align with our mission to provide equitable opportunities, but it seamlessly works behind the scenes to fit the needs of the person browsing our site and adapts to their needs. Beautiful and priceless! We are grateful for this tool and couldn’t be happier with the results, customer service, and the entire team at Recite Me.”

The accessibility and language tools on the MCBDD website provide features such as screen reading functionality, multiple reading aids, customizable styling options, and an on-demand live translation feature that boasts over 100 languages, including 65 text-to-speech and styling options.
