Progreso Latino is a non-profit organization based in Central Falls, Rhode Island dedicated to serving and empowering the Latino community in the state.

Founded in 1977, Progreso Latino offers a variety of services to people and families, including adult education, employment development, health and wellness initiatives, and community advocacy.

Progreso Latino has a mission to advance social and economic fairness through transformational programs that support personal growth and social change.

Our Brief

Progreso Latino is the largest Latino community organization in Rhode Island, serving thousands of people annually. With a wide range of programs, including adult and early childhood education, domestic violence intervention and prevention, and emergency food relief, Progreso Latino recognizes the importance of creating an inclusive online experience for all members of the community.

With this in mind, the organization sought a solution to eliminate barriers that may prevent users from accessing its website and resources and ensure that its online information and services are easily accessible and user-friendly for everyone.

Our Solution

To ensure that all individuals, including those with disabilities or language needs, have equal access to information and opportunities on the Progreso Latino website, the organization has implemented the Recite Me toolbar.

The Recite Me assistive toolbar enables all website visitors, regardless of their differing abilities or language needs, to customize the Progreso Latino website in a way that works best for them. Recite Me assistive technology includes screen reading functionality, multiple reading aids, customizable styling options, and an on-demand live translation feature that boasts over 100 languages, 65 of which can be read aloud.

Progreso Latino’s vision is a socially and economically thriving Latino and immigrant community that drives solutions to statewide issues in RI. To accomplish this our community needs access to critical information and resources in their native language. Recite Me's innovative assistive technology on our website allows individuals to navigate our website in their native language, and even have the information read aloud to them in their native language. Progreso Latino is the state’s largest Latino community organization, serving thousands of people each year through over a dozen core programs and services. The Recite Me technology is key to advancing our mission to provide access to bilingual information and bicultural transformational programs that catalyze personal growth.
