The Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM) is a nonprofit membership organization protecting, restoring, and conserving Maine’s environment, now and for future generations. For more than 60 years, the Natural Resources Council of Maine has been protecting the places and way of life that make Maine so special.

Our Brief

Protecting Maine’s environment means protecting it for all individuals and making sure they are including people with differing abilities means by making their communications platforms accessible.

To welcome every individual who is interested in learning about the organization and its work of protecting Maine’s air, land, water, and wildlife, NRCM wanted to provide online support to get everyone engaged with their work.

Our Solution

To be able to share information and ways to get involved in their work on climate change, sustainable living, clean water, and air, and protecting forests and wildlife, NRCM has added Recite Me assistive technology to their website.

The Recite Me toolbar enables (24%) of adults in the United States to view, navigate, and customize the NRCM website in ways to suit their individual needs.

This assistive toolbar offers text-to-speech capabilities, reading support aids for people with learning difficulties, and styling options such as font types, color themes, text size changes, and a translation tool amongst many other features.

“We are very excited to be able to offer this tool to people visiting our website so that they can join our efforts to protect Maine’s environment. Whether it is translating our pages into another language or adjusting the text and images to help them become easier to read for someone who has difficulty seeing small text or certain fonts, we hope that the Recite Me tool makes it easier for them to get involved and stay involved in our work.”
