Founded in 1941 and located in Washington D.C., the American Humanist Association (AHA) advocates progressive values and equality for humanists, atheists, freethinkers, and non-religious. Humanism is a nontheistic worldview with ethical values informed by scientific knowledge and driven by a desire to meet the needs of people in the here and now. At the foundation of those values is an affirmation of the dignity of every human being.
The AHA strives to bring about a progressive society where being good without a god is an accepted and respected way to live life. To work toward this goal, the AHA defends civil liberties and secular governance, performs outreach to the growing number of people without traditional religious faith, and continuously refines and advances the humanist worldview.
To ensure their online information and services were accessible, inclusive, and customizable for everyone, they sought a solution that would provide users with barrier-free access to the information and services offered through their website.
The American Humanist Association implemented Recite Me online accessibility and language support tools. The Recite Me assistive toolbar enables all website visitors, regardless of their differing abilities or language needs, to customize the AHA website in a way that works best for them.
Recite Me assistive technology includes screen reading functionality, multiple reading aids, customizable styling options, and an on-demand live translation feature that boasts over 100 languages including 65 text-to-speech and styling options.
