One of the longest continuously operating airports in the world, Sydney Airport, has launched the Recite Me assistive toolbar on its website to support its web visitors when booking flights online.

Sydney Airport was opened by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II on the 3rd of May 1970 and in the last 50 years of operation, it has become the busiest airport in Australia. Becoming a true melting pot of diversity.

Sydney Airport sees diversity and inclusion as a fundamental cog in delivering outstanding outcomes, no matter the context. Therefore, enabling the Recite Me toolbar, allows Sydney Airport to champion this on their online platform.

Sydney Airport Head of Stakeholder & Customer Engagement, Claire Garth, said, “We believe the magic of flight should be available to everyone, which is why the airport is always looking for new ways to make travel more accessible.”

“Our website is an essential tool for passengers, and we are proud to partner with Recite Me to ensure it can be more easily accessed and navigated by all travellers.”

The launch of Recite Me Assistive Technology comes with a wealth of features for the Sydney Airport website including a screen reader, styling and customisation tools, multiple reading aids and an on-demand translator that offers translation up to 100 languages, 65 of which can be read aloud.

Furthermore, with 68% of travel bookings being made online in 2022, the adoption of Recite Me technology could benefit users with disabilities whilst increasing profit margins and as a result, creating a barrier-free experience for all passengers.

Booking a first-class trip for your accessibility journey is easier than ever and the Recite Me team are here to help you through the process. At Recite Me, we also offer our own Accessibility Software Checker, which you may use to analyse your website against a variety of accessibility concerns.
