Our Brief

With one in six Australians living with a disability, ensuring equal access to both physical and digital spaces is essential. Brisbane Airport had already taken significant steps to improve accessibility in its terminals, including accessible parking and wheelchair ramps. However, the airport recognised that its commitment to inclusivity needed to extend beyond the terminal doors to its online platforms.

In an age where most travel planning, booking, and customer interactions take place online, Brisbane Airport needed a way to ensure its digital experience was accessible to all users – including those with disabilities, learning difficulties, visual impairments, or limited English proficiency.

Our Solution

Brisbane Airport became the first Australian airport to implement the award-winning Recite Me Assistive Toolbar across its website, enabling a barrier-free experience for every traveller.

The toolbar provides a suite of customisable accessibility tools, including:

  • Screen reader functionality
  • Reading aids
  • Translation into over 100 languages, with 65 text-to-speech voices
  • Styling and formatting options for improved readability

These tools empower every visitor to bne.com.au to navigate, read, and engage with content in a way that suits their individual needs, removing digital barriers from the travel experience.

Quotation Marks

“Bne.com.au is now accessible for all, and that’s exactly how it should be. Users should not have to pay for expensive software just to access something most of the population receives for free. These new tools at bne.com.au will make it far easier for anyone travelling through Brisbane to experience Queensland. This allows us to create a welcoming environment before passengers even set foot into Brisbane Airport.”
