This policy states how Recite Me will work to make sure services it provides going
ahead will be accessible. The minimum standards of WCAG must be met before the
products are sent out to clients. It also highlights how Recite Me will make sure the
services it provides are easy for end users to engage with.
This policy has been written to make sure that a consistent approach will be applied
to Recite Me products. We will work to make sure all our products are fully
accessible and adhere to WCAG 2.2 guidelines.
At Recite Me we thrive on the below values:
The Accessibility Policy applies to all products and services which run in a web
browser or mobile application. As well as all external communications to our clients.
Let’s explore these products and services in depth
Recite Me Products and Services
The Recite Me Assistive Toolbar, Accessibility Checker, and Consultancy services are
designed to support and enhance digital accessibility. However, the use of these tools and
services does not, in itself, guarantee compliance with accessibility laws such as the
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the European Accessibility Act (EAA), or the Web
Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Full compliance may require additional manual
testing, code-level fixes, and organizational policies beyond the capabilities of automated
solutions.
Assistive Toolbar
The Recite Me Assistive Toolbar provides users with customisation options to improve their
browsing experience, including text-to-speech, translation, visual adjustments and reading
aids. This tool does not alter the underlying code or structure of a website, nor does it
remediate accessibility issues at the source. As a result, it does not make a website
inherently accessible or ensure compliance with accessibility regulations. The benefits of the
Recite Me assistive toolbar is to provide a more inclusive experience to a wider audience
who may not have their own assistive technology.
Accessibility Checker
The Recite Me Accessibility Checker is an automated tool that scans for common
accessibility issues and provides recommendations for remediation. While it helps identify
and address many WCAG-related barriers, automated technology alone cannot detect all
accessibility issues, such as keyboard navigation failures, logical reading order, or contextual
alt text accuracy. A comprehensive accessibility evaluation should include manual testing,
user testing, and expert review to ensure full compliance and usability for all users.
The Recite Me Accessibility Checker includes an AI-powered auto-fixing feature that
temporarily resolves certain accessibility issues at the browser level, such as colour contrast
adjustments and missing alt text generation. However, these fixes do not modify the
website’s underlying code and should only be used as a temporary measure while
permanent, code-level remediation is implemented.
Accessibility Consultancy
The Recite Me Accessibility Consultancy service offers expert guidance, auditing, and
strategic recommendations to help organisations improve digital accessibility. While our
consultancy services provide best-practice recommendations, compliance support, and
remediation strategies based on WCAG, ADA, AODA, EAA, and other global accessibility
standards, achieving and maintaining compliance is the responsibility of the organisation.
Full compliance may require internal development work, third-party testing, and ongoing
accessibility efforts beyond the scope of consultancy.
Accessibility is covered by below legislation in Australia:
We conduct testing on our products using five key areas-
We know that automated testing finds only 30/40% of issues hence we need to run manual checks to be extra sure we are tackling all the accessibility issues. Manual testing is conducted using the criteria based on the WCAG2.2 Guidelines. We run through testing to make sure we are abiding by the WCAG principles being Perceivable, Operable, Understandable and Robust.
Products and services must undergo technical testing with each of the following types of assistive software.
Screen readers are used by people who are blind, visually impaired or have difficulty reading.
A screen reader must be able to read the content of the product.
The most common screen readers are:
Screen magnifiers are often used by people who are visually impaired but have sufficient useful sight to access digital content.

Voice recognition software is used by people with mobility impairments. Anybody who has difficulty using a mouse or keyboard may use voice recognition software.

We will be testing our products with mobile devices to make sure that the services work in the correct manner on the device. As our users might be using the service on a mobile device hence, we will make sure that it is correctly accommodated.
We will follow a mobile testing checklist to make sure we are adhering to the accessibility standards.
The accessibility statement must be updated if any of the following apply:
An escalation process is followed if issues are raised that need to be escalated.
