It’s with great pleasure that Recite Me can announce the launch of our assistive toolbar on the Griefline website so that their users can read and understand content in a way that suits them best.

Griefline is a national, not-for-profit organisation based in the heart of Victoria, Australia and has been serving the community for over 30 years. Griefline achieves this through compassionate listening, connecting its callers with the right support and providing 24/7 access to tools, well-being practices and coping strategies.

Griefline knows the ‘silent epidemic’ is a massive concern across Australia. In 2022, over 44,000 Australians developed chronic and debilitating mental health impairments following the death of a family member or close friend, leaving them unable to return to their previous levels of functioning.

Such individuals could be part of the 20% of the Australian population who have a disability but can’t access the help they need due to digital barriers. Fortunately, this won’t be the case for users of the Griefline website.

Louisa Smith, Griefline’s CMO, explained the importance of the implementation, saying,

“Effective website access is an essential requirement for all Australians, so it is crucial the experience we provide our site visitors is inclusive. We must reduce the barriers people face when using web-based programs and services. This will undoubtedly lead to the user’s empowerment and support their independence without struggle.”

Our assistive technology comes with four core toolbar features to help you access online information, barrier-free.

  • Screen reader
  • Reading Aids
  • Styling and Customisation options
  • An online translator with over 100 languages, including 65 text-to-speech options.

You can try the Recite Me toolbar by visiting griefline.org.au and clicking the accessibility and language options button in the top right corner. For users who rely on keyboard navigation, clicking the TAB button three times and clicking enter will have the same outcome.

Griefline joins Save the Children, Anglicare Victoria and over 5,000 companies making their website inclusive with Recite Me technology and you can too!
