Disability service provider in Sydney, The Housing Connection, is serving its diverse community with the Recite Me Assistive Toolbar to break down digital barriers.
A Diverse Culture
The Housing Connection took on the Recite Me Assistive Toolbar in August 2024, in line with their mission to put inclusivity at the forefront of their organisation to provide services to adults with intellectual and other disabilities.
With approximately 5.5 million Australians with a disability (ABS) and 5.8 million people speaking a language other than English at home (ABS), the Housing Connection recognised the importance of providing online support.
“We have many participants and family members from different cultural backgrounds. We work hard to provide our support services in different languages and offer Korean, Portuguese, Cantonese and other language options for our participants. Our goal is always to be as inclusive and respectful of all abilities and cultures.”

Enhancing Inclusion with the Recite Me Toolbar
By integrating the Recite Me Toolbar, the Housing Connection offers a selection of customisable tools, including text-to-speech functionality, translation into over 100 languages, customisable text and colour settings, and reading aids. These tools create a more accessible and user-friendly experience. Empowering users by giving them greater control over how they interact with content.

Whilst there are many different options of assistive technologies available now, most software only provides one or two tools. We want to cater to all the unique and individual needs of everyone in our community, which means Recite Me’s wide range of features caters to our audiences that come from different abilities and cultures.”
