British Gas is the largest UK energy and home services company, supplying gas, electricity, boilers and other services to 7 million homes and 400,000 businesses in the UK. In 2020 during the pandemic, British Gas took on the Recite Me toolbar on its main customer-facing website to work towards its mission of supporting those with certain health difficulties, access needs, disability or those in challenging circumstances. 

Our Brief

With much of the population relying on digital platforms and services during the pandemic, British Gas was keen to develop ways in which to further support their customers online and drive inclusion across the utility industry. 

Our Solution

By incorporating the Recite Me toolbar across its website,  British Gas offers a customisable digital experience for all website visitors. Users can choose from using a screenreader, reading aids, styling options and translation tools to make accessing their self-serve utility accounts barrier-free.
