Accessibility Statement
Recite Me offers an innovative suite of on-demand accessibility tools that make websites accessible and inclusive for a diverse range of people online.

This accessibility statement applies to www.reciteme.com.

This website is run by Recite Me. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website, and we are committed to meeting WCAG 2.2 compliance. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • Change colours, contrast levels, and fonts using browser or device settings
  • Zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • Navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver)

Our goal is to guarantee the accessibility of our content and services for individuals who require additional access support or use assistive technology.

Compliance Status

At this stage of our accessibility journey, this website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard. Any non-accessible content, and the reasons where relevant, are listed below:

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

  • Some images are included in the focus order even though they are not interactive, which fails the success criterion 2.4.3 Focus Order. We are working to ensure only interactive content gains focus. This also causes assistive technology to label these images “blank” as they are decorative and hidden using an empty alt tag, which fails 1.1.1 non-text content. This will be resolved once these images no longer receive focus
  • The teal text creates a colour contrast of 3.2:1 against the white background, which fails to meet 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum). We are working to ensure all text meets colour contrast requirements.
  • Keyboard users are not able to reach items in the menu as they cannot activate the hover state of the large menu items, which fails 2.1.1 Keyboard. We are working to ensure all content can be reached by keyboard controls alone.
  • When a user adjusts their text style properties, for example, by changing the text spacing or line height, there is content that is pushed out of button boundaries, which fails 1.4.12 Text Spacing. We are working to ensure all content is entirely legible, even if the user edits text size or line height.
  • The “enter URL” input is labelled by placeholder text, which fails 1.3.5 Identify Input Purpose. We are working to ensure all our form fields have clear text labels.
  • Some Mega menu items redirect the user to the skip link, which fails 3.3.2 On Input. We are working to ensure interactive content behaves as expected on user input.
  • Some buttons do not have sufficiently clear labels, which fails 3.3.2 Labels or Instructions. We are working to ensure all button text is clear enough to inform the user of their function.
  • Some blockquotes don’t use blockquote markup, which fails 1.3.1 Info and Relationships. We are working to ensure all markup is semantically accurate.
  • There are some instances of image text used on the site, which fail 1.4.5 Images of Text. We are working to ensure there are no instances of image text beyond logos or specialised fonts.
  • Some expanding/collapsing content has no status update, which fails 4.1.3 Status Messages. We are working to ensure consistent status updates across the website

Disproportionate burden

Elements that are authored by third-parties such as video players and maps, are considered disproportionate burden exemptions and are not covered by this accessibility statement.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Recite Me’s products, such as the toolbar, checker, and PDF remediation tool, are not covered in the scope of this document, as each product has its own accessibility statement.
