By extending the principles of inclusivity into the digital sphere, the ADA reinforces its commitment to equality, empowering individuals with disabilities to navigate online spaces with dignity and autonomy.<\/p><p>Among the ADA&#8217;s five titles, three hold particular relevance to digital accessibility:<\/p><ul><li><strong>ADA Title I: Fair Employment<\/strong> &#8211; Title I mandates equal access to employment opportunities and related information for federal employees with disabilities.<\/li><li><strong>ADA Title II: Public Services and Programs<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/reciteme.com\/us\/news\/ada-title-ii-compliance\/\">Title II<\/a> mandates that digital information regarding government services, programs, or activities must be equally accessible to disabled citizens.<\/li><li><strong>ADA Title III: Public-facing Entities<\/strong> &#8211; Title III mandates that any business operating a public-facing website must ensure that goods, services, facilities, and accommodations are accessible to everyone, irrespective of disabilities or limitations.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-1fe63f5 disable-default elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"1fe63f5\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-056d1ba\" data-id=\"056d1ba\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e264f5f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e264f5f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>Section 508<\/h3><p><a href=\"https:\/\/reciteme.com\/us\/news\/section-508-compliance\/\">Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act<\/a> aims to ensure that individuals with disabilities, both within the federal workforce and among the public, enjoy equitable access to digital resources and services. As such, federal agencies and offices are required to procure, develop, maintain, and utilize electronic and information technology (EIT) that is accessible to all. Essentially acting as a mini 508 for its own state agencies and offices, the <a href=\"https:\/\/at.mo.gov\/it-access\/\">Missouri Information Technology Accessibility Standard<\/a> is based on Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (more on WCAG coming up later!) and covers a wide array of EIT, including:<\/p><ul><li>Websites and web applications<\/li><li>Multimedia<\/li><li>Electronic documents<\/li><li>Training resources<\/li><li>Social media<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8b7e6b5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8b7e6b5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Under Missouri state law (RSMo. 161.935), it is the responsibility of the Missouri Technology Council and the Office of Information Technology to ensure and maintain equitable digital accessibility for individuals with disabilities.
