Any medium for which the principal function is the creation, manipulation, storage, display, receipt, or transmission of electronic data and information is covered. That list includes, but is not limited to:<\/p><ul><li>Electronic documents<\/li><li>Software<\/li><li>Web applications<\/li><li>Websites<\/li><li>Computers and peripheral equipment<\/li><li>Information kiosks and transaction machines<\/li><li>Telecommunications equipment<\/li><li>Customer premises equipment<\/li><li>Multifunction office machines<\/li><li>Videos<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-06c88ff elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"06c88ff\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Originally published in 2010, the first version of the Minnesota Accessibility Standard (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/cite\/16E.03\">MN Statutes 16E.03<\/a>) required that all State information systems, tools, and information must:<\/p><ul><li>Comply with WCAG 2.0 Level AA<\/li><li>Comply with selected provisions of Section 508 unless a written application for exemption was approved.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-63656d5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"63656d5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Subsequent updates in 2013 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/cite\/363A.42\">MN Statutes 363A.42<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/cite\/363A.43\">MN Statutes 363.43<\/a>) added further criteria, which were reinforced by another <a href=\"https:\/\/mn.gov\/mnit\/assets\/Stnd_State_Accessibility_tcm38-61585.pdf\">update in 2018<\/a>. The updated standards mandated that:<\/p><ul><li>Additional penalties would apply to agencies with inaccessible public records.<\/li><li>Any state-administered continuing education or professional development course must be made available in an accessible format.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-85ef86b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"85ef86b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In a continued bid to promote accessibility for all, the State will adopt a further <a href=\"https:\/\/mn.gov\/mnit\/assets\/MinnesotaStateAccessibilityStandard-v.4.0_tcm38-607575.pdf\">updated version of the Minnesota Accessibility Standard<\/a> as of July 1, 2024. Initially aimed at addressing physical accessibility barriers faced by individuals with disabilities, the modern-day ADA has evolved to encompass digital spaces, recognizing that websites and online platforms are extensions of physical environments.
