In 2022, approximately 735 million people globally found themselves in a state of chronic hunger or experienced food insecurity. The United Nations has dedicated itself to solving the issue of zero hunger, by working to create a world free of hunger by 2030.<\/p>

We had the opportunity to chat with Kim Turner, Communications Director at the Food Bank of Delaware<\/a> about the importance of working to end hunger and poverty, as well as making sure food information and resources are available to every person to achieve hunger-free communities.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

What is the Food Bank of Delaware’s mission, and what do you work to achieve?\u00a0<\/h3>

Our mission is to inspire hope in our communities by providing food to nourish Delawareans while collaborating on long-term solutions to hunger and poverty.<\/p>

How is your organization working to end hunger, achieve food security, and improve nutrition?<\/h3>

We distribute millions of pounds of food each year to the community through on-site food pantries, mobile food pantries, and a network of hunger-relief partners throughout the state. Our five-acre farm in Newark provides a supply of fresh local produce for members of the community. In addition to immediate food assistance, we also provide hope for a better tomorrow through our workforce and community development programming. We offer job training in the areas of food service and warehousing\/logistics, nutrition education, financial coaching through Stand By Me, and benefits outreach.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

What does inclusion and accessibility look like for the Food Bank of Delaware?<\/h3>

Inclusion and accessibility look like inclusion and accessibility for all \u2013 that includes people of all colors, genders, and sexual identities, people with disabilities, and more. We want our workplace to be a true reflection of the communities we live in and the ones we serve.<\/p>

\u00a0How does Recite Me play a role in your company’s mission?<\/h3>

Recite Me makes our website accessible to all people. We want to make sure our services are accessible to all and Recite Me ensures that all people can find the information they need on our website.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

We are looking forward to opening our new Food Bank facility in Milford in January 2024.
